I attempted to subscribe to Inscape, contacting the editor by e-mail to confirm the amount and ask how to pay. That could be by cheque or Paypal, but he omitted to give his address, so PP was the only option and I used that to subscribe on 1st May. However, I have just had an e-mail from PP saying that my sub has been refunded because Inscape does not accept PP payments and that my account has been restricted. I have just spent a very un-merry half hour in PP's tortuous website trying to find out how to remove the restriction, but without success. Grrr!!!!!!!! I am sure that Inscape would be worth having, if only I could subscribe to it, but, in view of the problems, I am giving up the attempt. Anyway, if anyone else is thinking of subscribing, take heed and do not use PP.

I contacted the editor using the e-mail link that Paypal put in their message to me, but my mail was returned as undeliverable. At which point, I realised that the address was wrong, so sent again using the address from my contacts book. Success, and a reply from the editor giving his postal address, so I could, after all, subscribe by cheque. But why did PP have the wrong address. Either I typed it incorrectly when I made the original payment, or I typed it correctly and it became corrupted somewhere in server or PP software. The former is possible, but, knowing that I tend to make mistakes in such things, I always triple-check addresses and passwords. The second--well, it certainly has happened on many occasions that I have definitely entered my e-mail address correctly on a form, but the website has popped up "Please enter a valid e-mail address". If that can happen, presumably other glitches can also happen. Changing subject, if you were considering buying into the Fuji X system, there are currently cash-back offers on many of the cameras and lenses--they run to mid-July. In my article I mentioned the possibility of using film camera lenses, but because of lack of space I did not say anything about adapters (I have done so before, somewhere). Anyway, for Leica M lenses --the original XPro 1 was purposely designed to be used with these lenses and Fuji made their own M>X adapter. I don't know whether it is stil in production, but, if not, probably it could be found on e-bay. For other lenses, including M, various third party adapters are available, but be aware that the cheap ones can cause problems, such as not mounting the lens precisely parallel to the sensor, or jamming on the body. Better to take a deep breath, reach a corresponding distance into your pocket and buy the very well-engineered and well-made adapters from Novoflex--available from Speed Graphic. Changing subject again, a local free mag says that this is Rabbit Awareness Week. Whatever will they think of next?

My wife subscribed to Inscape for me as a Christmas present, she had to do it by post, PayPal and email didn't work, the email address lead to a guy in Australia, they exchanged messages for quite a while!

I am breaking a long silence on the Forum with the very sad news that Alf Lambert died last Friday. He came to the Meets for many years and produced some distinctive and interesting work. Another good friend who will be much missed. I suppose that not many will see this message and I'm not sending e-mails to everyone, because those who didn't come to Meets since about half-way through Harlech wouldn't have known Alf, but I'll repeat it in the next NL.
