Welcome to the new Zone 8 PS Members' Messaging Forum.
When posting a message you MUST click on the REPLY button bottom right on the last (bottom) message - this ensures all messages will be showing in the same place.
The other postings I have made explain how and what to do. I will post more info on the Forum HomePage.
It is important - as it is my only specific request - that when posting members only put full links - starting with usual http':// followed by www - my message on Page 3 explains why this is a specific rule for the forum. In brief, for security reasons, do NOT post links using the shortened facility - links must be displayed in full. They will auto-activate. Thanks for respecting this request.
Enjoy!

In fact, the links all became activated all by themselves anyway. So, brief recap. The little icons enable a number of options - just check out to find which does what.
In every case you MUST click on lower right REPLY button (even if a new message and not an actual reply!), then complete the code (it will change if you click OK to get different if you cannot read it) and once typed in, click the little box to agree to terms and then to post your reply message.

Well, well, well - yes I am thank-you. I like the way this looks and the options to change text and colour. Now is the summer of our contentment2277 Nice features but cannot turn subscript off, even by cutting and pasting. Had to change font size for some impact. Right, having got the silliness out of the way, Georgia 4 point is quite nice. Not sure what message below about "no effects applied" is all about.
I like not having to mess with typing email address, also ability to use my masked persona. Think that you have found a winner here Brian.
Would like to be able to insert a small jpeg without using a web link. if one uses a web link does it automatically resize the image? I haven't tried it in case it broke it.
Per ME = Zone8: You cannot just insert an image as such - forums do not host images because if they did, their servers would need to be probably 1,000 times the size, so they can accept image files that are hosted elsewhere, thus a link will enable them to be shown as not hosted on the forum's servers. See the next message where I have enabled that image to appear and note how done and what actual image was selected to ensure size acceptable for the forum. Hope that clarifies.

Well that didn't work, wonder what I did wrong? Clicked on "insert image" and pasted in url, but only a little box appeared that seems to be dead - this - Trying it as a link instead - linkZone8 = My Trial: I went to your Gallery Page (with thumbnails) and right clicked on the thumbnail image then selected "Copy Picture Link" before clicking on the "Insert Image" icon and pasted in that link - it should work because it gives the link with .jpg at end not .htm as that is only a web page URL. Any image has to have .jpg at the end. It did not work doing that for the actual single picture page - most likely that was too big for the forum to accept, even though I edited to get .jpg at its end. Anyway - here goes to see if it works. Note that always Preview needs to be checked to see if it does insert the image. Yup - it worked a treat and because a thumbnail - is small enough to work in the forum.

OK Brian, now let's see if I can do it, Yep, used "copy picture url address" I think. What you said about "preview" I appear to always be in "preview" with option of "BBCode" I am quite happy with latest message being at the bottom, so far anyway!

Now how do we get to put our phisogs in, in place of the Martian. Presume one has to "Register" and then "Login" or are those bits sacred to the controller?

Freda again. Just testing again with another URL - copied from Doggi's message on old forum - which I will try copying over. I have not changed his link created via Mac - not actual links as such so wonder if will appear. On this Forum, generally it is necessary to post links in full with http://www at front - so copied links should also be fine but not sure about coding.
Per Doggi: Also, as an addendum to Booklet 26, I would like to make a plug for the humble shoulder brace.
On very bright sunny days here in Berlin, I find that I often need to use relatively slow shutter speeds and the camera brace helps a great deal. To explain, I work exclusively with Delta 400 rated at 200 and processed in a two-bath developer. With the 4 - 5 storey typical buildings here, to expose for the deep shadows whilst also including white walls high up in full sunlight with extensive depth of field often requires exposures ranging 1/60 | 1/30 | 1/15 | 1/8 @ f16 - f22. Employing the shoulder brace enables me to consistently shoot at 1/60 1/15 with 100% success. For 1/8 I usually do two to three exposures to ensure a negative free from shake. Mostly, I find that only one negative shows shake.
Important to note is that I use 6 x 7 rangefinder cameras (so no mirror issues) and normal to wide-angle lenses (so no long lens movement issues).
I currently have two fine Bakelite (polyoxybenzylmethylenglycolanhydride to those in the know!!) and metal examples from the 1960's (the sort that were usually sold cheaply for steadying Super 8 cameras) which I picked up some years ago for a couple of Euros.
Being permanently attached to the camera (parallel to the camera in transport and tangental in use) they are never 'left behind' like a tripod. As I usually walk around for 5 - 7 hours when I choose to go out to make photographs, this is a real benefit over a tripod or even a monopod. I would recommend thinking about a shoulder brace as a valuable addition to your equipment.
Manfrotto make a modern version which can also be combined with a monopod and you can see it here. Personally, my ancient one is better as the bakelite shoulder fitting folds in half for storing in the rucksack but I would expect that the Manfrotto would give the same sort of results. At an average price of £20 it is a bit dearer than the old ones that I bought but they are becoming hard to find (presumably people just chuck them out or believe the overstated effectiveness of stabilizers built in to digital cameras).
You can also get a simple brace from China for £16.99 with free postage that should also do the job. Have a look here.
Bests,
David www.dsallen.de
